Haley and David had an extraordinary Jewish fairy tale wedding—a sophisticated, modern, hip, chic, lavish one—at The Pierre, a legendary hotel situated on 5th Avenue over looking Central Park in New York City.
The Bedekin. Beautiful bride with her mom and mother-in-law...waited for her handsome groom to lower her veil. The room exploded with intense love, cheer, joy, singing, clapping, laughter, tears. A crew of photographers and lighting men worked the room like pros.
Here goes my meager attempt at capturing just a glimpse of the evening via my tiny Canon S100. Heads up: these don't even do the lightest bit of justice. C'est la vie...snippets into a night so meaningful, so grand, so exquisite, emotional and absolutely delicious...
The Orthodox-Style Jewish Wedding Ceremony. The ceremony was held in one of the classic French-modern rooms with brocade drapes, glass chandeliers. Live talent played in the back corner. Chuppah and pillars were dripping with hanging glass tealights and a million blooming fragrant white roses and hydrangeas.
Appetizers and Full Bar before the Reception. Had to see it to believe it. The decadence. International food stations, Kosher-style, repping top NYC caterers with cooks lined up sushi-rolling, wok-searing and lamb-carving obscene amounts of fabulous food. Food and drink were made to order and on top of that, we were still being approached with fancy tray pass hors d'oeuvres.
The Reception. WOW.
Still buzzed and happy from excess cocktails and apps just moments earlier, dinner and wine parings were coming out.
Tuna Tartare. Super-sized portion of top-grade Ahi (10-12 oz?), avocado, soy, tempura bits. (Sorry for the black and whites. This was vibrant and gorgeous.)
Steak. Butterleaf, Asparagus tied Scallion, Persian Rice, Steak. Perfection.
Tofu, the Vegie Dish. Persian Rice, Grilled Tofu, Asparagus tied with Scallion, Roasted Beets, Portabella Mushroom, Roasted Tomato.
Digestif. Mini Grey Goose chilled in blocks of ice. Insane! So hip and clubby.
Citrus Sorbet. Sour, tart, sweet. Sorbet and vodka—divine.
Cobbler and Chocolate. Um, ridiculously good.
Cake and Dark Chocolate. Seriously... an edible dark chocolate cup filled with berries. OMG?!
It just kept coming. Oh my. Tiered cookie trays filled with dark chocolate dipped strawberries, macaroons and cookies....
Oh, and I almost forgot about the monogrammed cookies... Sigh.
Exaggerated floral displays of white roses, lilies and orchids were oozing out from every corner.
After Party.
What a spectacular celebration of love, culture, tradition, family and food at The Pierre, one of the most beautiful famous old hotels in New York City. Mazel tov! XO
