The Chef for Sunday night's Chefdance was Kerry Simon, a rock star chef from Simon Restaurant & Lounge at Palms Place Hotel and Spa in Las Vegas. Chef Simon's food is meticulous, beautiful and intensely flavorful. We had only enough time for the first two courses because we had a late Sundance movie to catch. What we had was AMAZING.
Belvedere Jackrabbit, house-made carrot ginger ale, Belvedere & pickled carrot - cocktail pairings by Snake Oil Cocktail Company.
Amuse: Roasted Baby Beet Salad, graham cracker pudding, red sorrel, black licorice tainted balsamic. Oh so pretty, so round and curvy, so delish. Danyi and I kept stealing bites from everyone.First: Winter Vegetable Soup, farro, parmesan tomato broth. Light and intensely flavorful. The parmesan kick is magical.
Missed the rest of dinner in rushing out for the Bobby Fischer Against the World...sigh ;'(
Second: Golden Trout, braised fennel, citrus quinoa.
Main: Black Angus Short Rib, baby carrot, white turnip, mashed yukon gold potato.
Dessert by Jeff Bonilla of Cups, La Jolla.
Liz Garbus introduces her film Bobby Fischer Against the World, a provocative and honest film about a our chess idol, Bobby Fischer.
